The Icepack (15-3) return to Raleigh this weekend with three games in four nights, starting with Southeast Region Rival, University of Delaware on Friday and Saturday, followed by ancient rival, UNC on Monday night. Saturday’s game is also youth hockey night featuring a family friendly 5:30 PM start time at Raleigh Center Ice. Any youth hockey player wearing their jersey is free with a paid adult! The Blue Hens (12-8-1) come to town as the highest ranked opponent the Icepack will host this season. Delaware comes in ranked #8 in the Southeast region while the Icepack are #5. These games will have huge postseason implications. The top two teams in each region get a bye to Nationals, while teams ranked #3 through #8 get a first-round bye in regional play. The Blue Hens will be looking for a bit of revenge in Raleigh as they dropped the last two games to the Icepack. Last year at Delaware the Icepack won a thriller, 5-4 in the last minute on a Tyler Alfonzetti goal. On Monday the Icepack return to PNC Arena to faceoff against UNC. The last meeting in November saw the Pack storm out to a 5-0 lead only to see UNC mount a furious comeback before the Pack held onto the Governor’s Cup with an 8-6 victory. With a victory the Heels have a shot at having more wins than their men’s basketball team this year. This weekend is also unique as all three home games will be played in three different venues. Rinks and Start Times are Below: Friday January 17th at 9:30 PM vs. Delaware at Raleigh Iceplex Saturday January 18th at 5:30 PM vs. vs. Delware at Raleigh Center Ice Monday January 20th at 7:00 PM vs. UNC at PNC Arena
