(Hillsborough, NC) - Led by freshmen Chris Solomon's (Clayton, NC) hat trick, the Icepack skated past Duke 14-1 in Hillsborough, NC. The Icepack opened the scoring early, tallying four goals before the ten minute mark and never looked back. In all 17 skaters registered a point for the Icepack. Solomon (3g, 3a) was joined in the hat trick club by senior line-mate, Laythe Jadallah (Raleigh, NC) (3g, 4a). Other goal scorers included Sophomore, Riley Johnson (Raleigh, NC) with 2 goals, Freshmen Joey Davidson (Phoenix, AZ) and Matt MIller (Apex, NC) also each scored their first Icepack goals, plus Nikita Anistratov '21 (Moscow, Russia) , Owen Drugan '20 (Raleigh, NC) Ryan Kinney '20 (Charlotte, NC) and Ian O'Rourke '21 (Morrisville, NC) all opened their accounts for the year. Senior Jess Tart (Raleihg, NC) turned away 13 shots in the win for the Icepack.
Game Notes: Three for all: This marks the second consecutive year an Icepack freshmen notched a hat trick in their first game. Riley Johnson accomplished the feat a year ago at West Virginia. Streaking: The win marks the 28th consecutive regular season victory for the Pack dating back to a loss at Clemson on January 20th, 2018. Take Two: Head Coach Mike Gazzillo notched two victories on the day as his 19AA girls team recorded a victory earlier in the day. Up Next: The home opener versus ECU 9/27 at 9:45 pm at the Iceplex.
