Due to the continued widening of the Covid-19 Pandemic in North Carolina, The Icepack will not be competing in inter-collegiate competition this Fall, per NC State’s division of Wellness and Recreation. With the rising potential complications of the persisting pandemic, travel and competition presents a high risk to our student athletes, and we support their decision to suspend the current season until the 2021 spring semester. The Icepack will organize as a club at the start of the year and continue to monitor and work with the University for when it will be appropriate to return to the ice to conduct tryouts this Fall. Interested players should contact club President Ian O’Rourke to ensure they have the latest information on joining the club.
Additionally, the Icepack are in constant communication with the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) on reworked plans for Regionals and Nationals that would allow for a true second semester season. Mike Walley, Commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Hockey League, is working diligently on backup plans that will allow the Icepack to compete with the rest of the league in the 2021 ACC Tournament. The Icepack are currently slated to play in the spring semester against Wake Forest University (2), Liberty University (2), Louisville (2), Stevenson, and UNC Charlotte. Our current matchups against the University of Delaware and University of New Hampshire have been targeted for the beginning of the 2021 season. The Icepack are members of the Atlantic Coast Collegiate Hockey League and play in the American Collegiate Hockey Association. The Icepack are an independent club hockey team at NC State and a registered 501 c3 non-Profit. For more information visit www.IcepackHockey.Com.
