The Icepack managed to pull out a win in the back-to-back matchup against the Penn State Ice Lions, ending the weekend with a 4-3 win on Friday and a 4-1 loss on Saturday The first game started out with great looks from both sides, with both Nick Shook and Brooks Willoughby-Ray recording goals, ending the period 2-1 Icepack. Jackson Weglarz scored his first goal as a member of the Icepack on the powerplay in the second, as well as recording the only goal of the period. In the third, Penn state would score less than a minute into period, as well as record a powerplay goal with less than six minutes left in regulation to send the game to overtime. The Icepack came out aggressive in overtime, with Andrew Throndson scoring just 28 seconds in, giving the Icepack a 4-3 win.
The Saturday game started heavily in Penn State's favor, as the Ice Lions recorded three separate goals in the first period, as well as a fourth goal less than a minute into the second period. The Icepack would spend the remainder of the period clawing back in the game, with a tip in goal from Brayden Strong off of a point shot from Alex James bringing the Icepack within two. However, untimely penalties and lots of time spent undermanned for NC State would lead them to a 4-1 loss in the matchup. The Icepack now head on the road after a nine game home stretch, looking to pick up two wins at the ACCHL Showcase in Springfield next weekend against Rider University and the University of Maryland.
