RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State heads to West Virginia this weekend for a two-game series against the Mountaineers.
The Icepack is coming off its first weekend off of the season after starting its road stretch by splitting a two-game series with Delaware. Through the first portion of the season, NC State holds a 6-2-1 record. The latest American Collegiate Hockey Association rankings, released Oct. 15, did not place the Icepack in the top 25, but the team did receive a vote — a sign of its strong start. Freshman forward Aidan Raedy said he enjoyed the atmosphere of the team’s first road trip and is looking forward to another weekend on the road. “It’ll be a fun road trip. The last road trip was fun, too,” Ready said. “Everybody hangs out with each other. It’s very exciting.” Raedy said the Icepack will focus on playing its own game against a West Virginia team that has been inconsistent so far this season. “It seems like they’re really inconsistent,” Raedy said. “I saw their game against Navy. You just don’t really know what to expect from them.” West Virginia enters the series with a 4-4-1 record after splitting a weekend series with Lehigh University. The Mountaineers have split two of their five series this season. NC State and West Virginia have not faced a common opponent this season. The Icepack plays at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Hope Gas Ice Pavilion at Mylan Park. Both games will be streamed on the Mountaineer Hockey Network on YouTube.
