RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State shut out North Carolina 4-0 in their final regular-season game.
BOX SCORE | SKATER STATS In their last home game of the season, the Icepack honored captain Zach Herman, alternates Joey Gouveia and Nick Librizzi and goaltender Isaac Tawyer before puck drop as part of Senior Night. The players were joined on the ice by their families during the pregame ceremony. A sold-out crowd created an energetic and physical atmosphere for the rivalry matchup, which featured 30 penalty minutes on 15 penalties. Jake Gifford opened the scoring off a rebound from Erik Dahlin’s shot in the final second of a first-period power play. Daniel Prazma later forced a turnover and scored an unassisted goal – his 20th of the season – to give NC State a 2-0 lead heading into the first intermission. The second period slowed after a fast-paced opening frame, with neither team finding the net. The third period featured eight combined penalties. Reece Johnson scored on the power play 31 seconds into the period off assists from Gouveia and Prazma. The Icepack killed off two UNC power plays, including 35 seconds of 5-on-3, to keep the Tar Heels scoreless. Gouveia added an empty-net goal to seal the 4-0 win. Tawyer made 23 saves to record his first shutout of the season and third of his Icepack career.
