The NC State Icepack take home the win in a 7-6 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes Alumni in a once in a lifetime opportunity at the Lenovo Center. The Icepack players and coaching staff all stated how incredible of an opportunity this was for the team, and were grateful for the ability to share in honoring Eric Staal’s number retirement, as well as honoring many other former Hurricanes players over the years. The Icepack had the incredible opportunity to face off against a team full of Hurricanes legends, including Rod Brind’Amour, Cam Ward, Chad LaRose, and Eric Staal, who just has his #12 raised to the rafters in Lenovo Center this past Sunday. The alumni showed that they can still play, controlling the pace of the game throughout the night. The Icepack were able to hold their own, keeping the game close with goals from Austin Finch, Holden Koufman, and Jake Gifford. The Icepack were able to tie up the game 6-6 on a successful penalty shot from Daniel Prazma, coming off the only penalty in the game from Eric Staal. With just 30 seconds left in the match, Jake Gifford got the go ahead goal for the Icepack, as well as completing his second hat trick of the weekend.
